Moon Collection - Jessica Jenkinson

Lose yourself in Jessica’s Moon Collection, a series of handwoven textile samples inspired by the moon’s magnetic energy.

MORE

In this collection, I wanted to capture the magnetic pull of the moon, exploring how following the moon cycles can have a positive impact on humans.

I’m a very spiritual person, and ever since my yoga teacher taught me about the power of the moon, I have been fascinated with it. I have found a certain level of healing in being attuned with the moon, so I wanted to promote the benefits of being aware of how the moon cycles affect our bodies.

The handcrafted element is very important in my work. On the loom I have control over every thread, carefully designing the threading plan and warp designs, making every sample a very personal experience. I hand dye most of my yarns so I can create the perfect colours and to ensure the yarn I am using is dyed in the most sustainable way. I also carefully select my yarn using natural fibres such as silk, cotton and wool, and only recycled plastics. It is very important for me to create work that has minimal environmental impact.

There is a strong connection between nature and design within my work, reflecting my upbringing in the Cumbrian countryside.
